Every child enjoys a good horse story, especially when the horse loves chewy oatmeal cookies and hates to work!
Danny the Workhorse is a beautiful hard cover book, illustrated with water colors. It tells the story of the large work horses at Pleasant Valley Farm. My children loved the story of how Farmer Don and Missus Dora encouraged Danny to enjoy his work.
I hope the author, Helga Moser, shares more stories from her childhood on a Wisconsin farm and continues the Pleasant Valley Farm series.
I received a free copy of Danny the Workhorse from Christian Light Publications. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I went to Christian Light Publications and was very interested in the home school curriculum. I have requested a catalog. Have you used thier curriculum before or maybe know someone who has? Thanks again and God bless.

ReplyDeleteI have quite a few friends that use CLP's homeschool curriculum. The only thing I have personal experience with is their elementary math curriculum, which I love.

Sounds like a good book! Beside CLP Math, what other curriculum do you use? I always find it helpful for future curriculum choices to get other homeschool mom's opinions.

ReplyDeleteI hesitate to talk about curriculum because I'm new to homeschooling and not saying that I am choosing the best, for me or you! But I always like to hear what others are using, so here is my list in brief.
Beginning Steps to Reading from Eastern Mennonite, CLP math, Story of the World history, Sequential Spelling, First Language Lessons, Memoria copybooks and lots of additional reading!

Oh, I know another horse story about a draft horse that like treats! Five o'clock Charlie by Marguerite Henry!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a book my that my children would love! Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteKeri- A mom who is enjoying the homeschool elementary stage, of her homeschool journey!
Sounds like a good curriculum to me; Story of the World history, Sequential Spelling, and First Language Lessons are ones that I love and plan to use myself! My biggest problem seems to be finding good stories. I want books that are entertaining enough to read for fun, but spiritual enough to learn something practical.
