Giveaway - Baer's Pantry Jam

If you enjoy a slice of  bread spread with homemade jam...

If you choose regional favorites featuring top quality product...

If you like to support family businesses...

Keep reading to join in this week's giveaway!

Rachel contacted me about doing a review and giveaway for Baer's Pantry. The Baer family has been making jams in Wyoming for twenty years. They focus on using quality fruit  to make jams containing NO high fructose corn syrup.

The homemade jams have been wildly popular at local farmer's markets and tourists. Recently, Rachel began a web page to share the family's products with a wider community.
In our email conversation, I found that Rachel and I are distant cousins. If I have it straight, Rachel's great-grandmother was my grandma's aunt. After the death of my great-grandmother, Rachel's great-grandmother helped to raise my grandma.

Pennsylvania to Wyoming - family connections - it is a small world! The photo is Rachel and her daughter.

But back to jam...

Rachel sent us a sample box of the Baer's Pantry jam.

My first surprise was how large the jars were. I was thinking "sample/small". But these were generous pint size jars.

I don't make much jam. I don't get any more creative then strawberry jam and apple butter. My family thought they had an ultimate treat to have numerous kinds of jam to choose from. And they were all YUMMY!

We first opened Chokecherry Jam. I had never heard of this fruit that grows wild in the west. The Baer's make their chokecherry jam from fruit handpicked in Montana and Wyoming. I couldn't think of another fruit to compare it to, maybe cherry? Whatever it was comparable to - it was just good!

Traffic Jam was a mixture of several different kinds of berries. My children cracked up at the name - and gobbled up the contents.

Raspberry Jam is my husband's favorite but he hates all the seeds. Baer's Pantry Seedless Raspberry Jam was a winner!

I wasn't sure my children would like TomatoBerry Jam if they knew it contained tomatoes. I wasn't going to tell them the ingredients but I forgot that I have a seven year old who can read. She proclaimed the jars message to her brothers - but then announced this her very favorite jam!

But the biggest surprise has been the Jalapeno Pepper Jam. I wasn't sure if we would like a spicy jam. Rachel suggested serving it over cream cheese with crackers. We served this to my family where it was a hit. The remaining bit in the jar came back to our house. We've discovered it adds the perfect "zing" to a sandwich. I'm afraid that Ed is totally hooked on the jalapeno pepper jam. Basically anything that needs a spark but salsa would be too sloppy, gets a layer of jalapeno pepper jam. Especially good in a wrap! Good stuff!

Now for the giveaway! I'm especially excited because Rachel is giving FIVE  readers a chance to win! She is generously giving two jars of jam to five (that is 5!)  readers!

To enter, visit the Baer's Pantry website. You can find out more about their family business by clicking on the brochure in the top corner. Come back here to Home Joys and leave a comment stating the flavor (or flavors) you would like to win.

Giveaway is open to any US readers. Please leave an email address so I can contact you. Giveaway will be open for one week from today. Winner will be chosen by Random.org.

Rachel at Baer's Pantry shared their product with us but all opinions in this review were my own.

  25. Hi Gina,
Wow! This is a new one for me... I grew up in Wyoming and thought I knew every small little hole... I mean I know where Sweat Water, and Jeffery City are! Until I saw, Carpenter, Wyoming. I had to look it up. Crazy.

The second funny story is my Mom one year decided to make Choke Cherry Jam. I was an only child and for some unknown reason she made 6 canning boxes filled with pint size jars. That's a lot of jam for one girl to eat since Mom hates jam.

The real problem came because Mom forgot to put gel into the jam so I had to eat choke cherry syrup on all of my sandwhiches. Do you know what kind of a mess that made by the time lunch came at school? For 3 years I ate that stuff. Ug.

So that being said, I would like to try a jar of Choke Cherry (for my kids, not me!!) and try a jar of traffic jam (for me!).

I think my family would probably like trying the chokeberry jam (always up for something new!) and the raspberry rhubarb jam. Traffic jam is a great name, though! I might have to use that if I ever make a mixed berry jam myself. :) These days I stick with making single berry jams whenever the berries are available to pick or on sale at the store.
