It's a great autobiographical story about how this children's book author struggled with a learning disability as a child and was called "dumb" until a special teacher worked with her to unlock the joys of reading. <br /><br />(It's not about a writer, but we also just read "Snowflake Bentley" - given the snow again last weekend! It's about a boy in 1800s Vermont who saw beauty in snowflakes and developed a way to photograph them, showing that no two are alike.) <br /><br />Thanks for your list; now I have more to look for at the library! - SuzAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
