I always enjoy the writings of the Deliberate Agrarian. He always has a new idea, thought provoking quote, and humor that makes worthwhile reading. Sadly, he doesn't blog much anymore but he still keeps a steady stream of Whizbang projects for homesteaders, like a chicken plucker, cider press, and just practical garden information.
One of his latest endeavors is a poetry contest. Specifically an agrarian poetry contest featuring haiku.
I can't remember writing poetry since maybe third grade. I don't claim to have any poetic talent.
But maybe you do!
At least haiku doesn't have to rhyme. After reading through the contributions, I started actually started thinking in haiku. It was a fun diversion this summer when faced with a bushel of peaches to peel.
You can even get the whole family involved. There is prizes for children as well. Perfect project for a homeschooler.
The first prize is a Whizbang Wheel Hoe. I think it appears to be a great gardening tool. If you don't want to write poetry and win one, you can use his free plans to make your own or purchase a parts kit or ready made hoe. Mention Home Joys and get $10 off your purchase.
Maybe I'll actually get brave enough and contribute my meager poetry attempts - but I thought it was fun enough to mention to you. At least you can check out the other poetry contributions!
